My aim in this series of paintings is to be a quiet and simple yet strong voice that expresses prayer and the power of it. Although life seems to be going faster and faster, physics says "All time is simultaneous" and that the linear sequence of what we experience is only an illusion. In the spirit of that reality, I want to capture the potential of aliveness and power that resides in the midst of the moment - suffused with the additional energy of our human impulse to hope and pray.

It is fascinating to note that the word cosmos was formerly spelled with a k. It derives from an old Pythagorean term that means the emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of the universe, as well as the physical. Cosmos spelled with a c refers only to the physical. The evolution of this word says a lot to me about our modern culture!
